VR Climbing Guidebook for Illaroo & Shoalhaven
This guidebook provides information for climbs at: West Bank; Occupied Territories; Gaza Strip; Babylon & Alexandria
Babylon
Babylon has about 25 routes. It is mostly sport climbing with some trad climbs as well. A lot of the routes are overhanging and up to 20 metres high. Grading wise this place offers a majority of the climbs in the mid twenties with some exceptions in both the lower and higher grades. You will be able to get around these climbs with a 50 metre rope. Spend your time climbing here in the peak season of March-Nov and enjoy the nice pastel orange colour of the rock as you soak up the mountain air. A final selling point for Babylon is its easy access. No big hikes or abseiling required. Just turn up and climb.
Things that caught my attention:
The Craic. One of the few trad routes in Nowra.

Alexandria
Alexandria is a little place that is currently under development, with only two routes and a couple of projects. A 50 metre rope will be enough for this area.

Gaza
Gaza Strip is in the Illaroo area, near Babylon and West Bank. It is a bit hidden, maybe that is the reason why not many people frequent this place. This place is purely sport climbing and mostly overhanging with the main wall reaching 30 metres high. Most of the routes are between 24 and 27 and I highly recommend you take a 60 metre rope or longer to this area. The ideal season for this crag is Mar-Dec.
Things that caught my attention:
The Big White Wall
Little waterfall on the way to the Green Wall

West Bank
This place features about 12 sport routes and good quality rock. The climbing grades vary from 21 to 27. A 50 metre rope would be enough for this area. This is definitely a winter crag (May-Jul) with the sun hitting the wall from around 10 am with good coverage throughout the day.

Occupied Territories
This crag has over 30 sport routes with grades ranging from 14 through 25. The highest route is about 20 metres so a 50 metre rope will be enough for this area. the ideal season to climb here is Mar-Dec. With a reasonable number of easier climbing grades along with the easy access to the site I consider this to be a great family friendly option.
